About the project
JMac delivered a water park and play space at The Mill at Moreton Bay, a mixed-use development precinct in Petrie. The project included a splash and play area, adventure playground, sports oval with cricket pitch, amenities and pumphouse building, custom shelters, connecting pathways, car parking, lighting, landscaping and supporting services.
Scope
Construction of a 300m2 splash and play area with two concrete inground tanks, tipping bucket, architectural water sprays, formed channels and interactive lighting
Supplied and laid 18,000m2 of turf, including construction of a sports oval with cricket pitch and terraced seating walls
Construction of a 3,000m2 entry road and asphalt car park with concrete kerb
Construction of an adventure playground
Installation of a smart lighting system including six 32-metre sports field towers, 58 streetlights, LED strip lighting and batten lighting
Construction of and fit out a custom-built amenities and pumphouse building
Construction of five custom shelters
Construction of 5,000m2 of connecting pathways and decorative concrete pavements
Installation of stormwater, water mains, sewage connections and a fully automated irrigation system
Completed 14,000m3 of bulk earthworks
Supplied and planted 50,000 pots and 200 large trees in gardens, bio basins and revegetation areas
Outcomes
- To manage worker safety and environmental protection, JMac implemented testing and monitoring processes while working on land with contaminated soils adjacent to a lake.
- The team navigated safety and supply challenges during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining program targets.
- The project delivered integrated water play, recreation and open space facilities for the Moreton Bay community.
