About the project

JMac delivered the Tallebudgera Creek Park Upgrade for the City of Gold Coast, transforming the foreshore park into a contemporary recreational space with improved access, amenities and coastal infrastructure. The project included a new boardwalk, viewing platform, playground, amenities building, picnic areas, pathways, lighting, landscaping, dune nourishment and shoreline protection works.

Scope

Delivery of park, amenities, boardwalk and missing link works at Tallebudgera Creek Beach

Construction of a 100 metre fibreglass reinforced polymer boardwalk on screw piles with viewing platform, seating and lighting

Delivery of new furniture, inclusive play equipment, picnic areas, barbecue facilities, bicycle parking, beach access stairs and wayfinding signage

Upgrade of the amenities building, including Changing Places accessible adult change facilities

Completion of approximately 2,000m2 of bulk earthworks

Installed irrigation, sewer reticulation, stormwater drainage, water services, electrical and communications services and car park upgrades

Construction of approximately 900m2 of concrete pavement across the park and boardwalk areas

Laid approximately 6,000m2 of turf and delivered softworks landscaping, dune vegetation, dune nourishment and revegetation works

Construction of a 2,200 tonne foreshore sea revetment wall to support shoreline stability and protect the upgraded boardwalk

Outcomes

  • JMac delivered the project on time and within budget while managing additional works requested by the City of Gold Coast.
  • The fibreglass reinforced polymer boardwalk provided a durable, low-maintenance asset designed to service the community for decades.
  • Dune nourishment, revegetation and the foreshore sea revetment wall supported environmental preservation and long-term shoreline stability.
  • Temporary fencing, clear signage and maintained pedestrian pathways helped manage public safety in a high-use community area.
  • Open communication with the City of Gold Coast and community stakeholders supported management of design changes and construction impacts.
  • The upgraded park provides improved disability access, inclusive play equipment, amenities, picnic areas, pathways and foreshore recreation infrastructure.
