About the project
JMac delivered Greenheart Stage 1, Robina Parklands for the City of Gold Coast, designing and constructing a premier parkland and new recreation area for Robina and surrounding suburbs. The 22.5 hectare parklands included recreation facilities, a café, public amenities, custom shelters, adventure playground, pedal park, pathways, landscaping, lighting and supporting infrastructure.
Scope
Construction of an adventure playground with custom-designed towers and water play area
Construction of café building, public amenities building, three custom shelters and maintenance shed
Construction of large open green spaces and gardens including 63,000m2 of turf, 850m2 of artificial turf and over 34,000 plants
Completed 460m3 cut to fill and imported 25,000m3 of fill
Installation of stormwater and playground drainage, sewer, water reticulation, irrigation, electrical and communications, roadworks, pathways, pavement areas, kerb, driveway crossovers and linemarking
Construction of pavements including 560m2 of sandblasted pavement, 6,200m2 of plain pedestrian concrete, 200m2 of plain vehicular concrete, 2,500m2 of coloured pedestrian concrete, 2,500m2 of coloured vehicular concrete and 7,400m2 of asphalt surfacing
Installation of furniture including floating precast seats, double facing seat, back bench seat, picnic settings, bin enclosures, bike racks, accessible barbecues, drinking fountains, removable bollards and pool-type fencing
Construction of concrete walls, concrete stairs, terrace seating, sandstone blocks, sandstone steps, sandstone retaining walls, boulder retaining wall, shade sail structures, handrails and balustrading
Outcomes
- JMac delivered the first parkland development of this scale for Gold Coast Council in years, creating a new recreation area for Robina and surrounding suburbs.
- Safe pedestrian pathways and external parking on the roundabout were established and maintained for public access around the construction site.
- Open, proactive communication with the City of Gold Coast supported alignment on project goals and delivery of Council’s vision.
- Regular communication and updates with Council supported quick issue resolution, smooth approvals and collaboration throughout the project.
- The completed parkland provides a high-quality, community friendly space that has received positive attention from locals.
