About the project
JMac delivered a new play attraction at Broadwater Parklands, a popular community space on the Southport Broadwater. The project included a bespoke 18-metre spiral play tower, play equipment, additional parking, shelters, shade structures, landscaping, dune rehabilitation, services and park furniture.
Scope
Construction of an 18-metre, four-level bespoke spiral play tower with interactive play equipment
Design and construction of two shelters and installed six shade sail structures
Installation of play equipment including water and sand play areas and all-abilities elements
Delivered subtropical landscaping and dune rehabilitation, including 14,000 plants and 7,000m2 of lawn
Installation of park furniture including barbecues, seating benches and drinking fountains
Installation of more than 300 sandstone blocks in playground and garden areas
Construction of 1,250m2 of concrete paths and 126 metres of formed concrete walls
Construction of 25 additional car parking bays
Installed services including lighting, water and drainage
Outcomes
- Forward planning with the client supported constructability and helped minimise lead times.
- JMac adjusted the construction methodology to establish dunes early and protect the Broadwater from site run-off during construction.
- Early installation of site drainage enabled works to continue through extremely wet weather, reducing potential delays.
