JMac completes construction of play amenities at the RAAF Base Tindal

JMac Constructions (JMac) has completed works at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Tindal, located 20 kilometres from the town of Katherine in the Northern Territory, with the playground recently opening to the public.

The project scope for Defence Housing Australia (DHA) included the design and construction of over 4000m2 of paths, 8 shared pedestrian and bike bridges, 500m2 of play area, including softfall play equipment, four BBQ shelters and an AFL oval.

JMac are proud to deliver the project on time and on budget, with no compromise to the safety of our workers, no lost time injuries and no environmental incidents, despite completing works in the centre of an operational defence base – a great outcome for the project team.

Through the design process, JMac saved the client over 7% of the original budget by innovatively revising design elements to better utilise local contractors and suppliers and provide a more direct access point to the construction area.

The successful completion of the project represents the third project JMac has completed for DHA over the past three years, with DHA commending JMac on our adaptability through the design and construction process.

With the playground and sporting field now open for the festive season, it is sure to be enjoyed by the local families this Christmas.
