Bayside Parklands

Bordered by the waters of Moreton Bay, JMac worked closely with the client to transform the existing park into what is now considered one of Brisbane’s bayside landmarks.

JMac was engaged to deliver the park’s master planned design including a continuous curved picnic shelter with picnic tables and new amenities building.

Cleveland Point Reserve

Cleveland is a bayside suburb of Brisbane, located approximately 26 kilometres from the CBD. The project was part of Redland City Council’s upgrade based on the landscape master plan adopted by Council in 2006.

JMac Constructions was engaged to undertake the reconstruction and enhancement of the park facilities.

Installing the infrastructure for Council’s bike hire scheme required us to manage hundreds of individual sites in and around Brisbane’s CBD, each with their own challenges.

Colleges Crossing

Rebuilding the popular recreation area damaged during the 2011 floods, the project team successfully delivered a significantly sized project, which included all aspects of civil, landscaping and building works, in a compressed timeframe.

Key features included three large playgrounds, shelters, barbecues, a cafe, a viewing platform and amenities buildings.

The project involved upgrading park facilities including construction of a new amenities block, playground and sewer pump station, providing a high grade recreational space for the local community.

JMac worked closely with the client to deliver the project on time and ensured that community disruptions were kept to a minimum.

JMac was engaged to undertake the rebuilding of a number of the park’s facilities including picnic shelters, amenities block, concrete paths and walls, park furniture and lighting, while enhancing existing features by expanding the car park.

Working closely with Council, we maintained community access to the popular jetty and parklands adjoining the construction site throughout the build.

Working concurrently with base-building works, JMac was engaged to undertake a number of landscaping activities, including pedestrian pavements, retaining walls, concrete bench seats, park furniture, BBQ shelters and tank equipment enclosures.

Working alongside the Brisbane River required environmental management strategies including water quality monitoring and establishing a dust suppression program.

JMac completed the massive $1.97 million redevelopment in late 2011 to maximise the Club’s operational space by building a new bar, moving the coffee shop to a more prominent area, providing a new kids area and internet desk, installing a new passenger lift and general maintenance of all areas of the club.

Rehabilitation of areas disturbed during the construction of the Port of Brisbane Motorway extension included extensive planting of batters and wetland areas.

Working in wetland areas connected to the Brisbane River required strict water monitoring controls and the implementation of modified work practices.

Engaged as principal contractor for the design and construction of the parklands, JMac managed the project through weekly design meetings to achieve a client desired balance between aesthetics, constructability and operational life cycle cost.

The scope of the completed works far exceeded what was expected by the client at the EOI stage, through a collaborative cost verses constructability approach.

JMac was engaged to undertake landscaping works to a 215 hectare industrial park including the rehabilitation and revegetation for the open space and parkland areas.

JMac was engaged to complete the first stage of works including streetscapes, parklands and fencing. The client has subsequently awarded JMac a number of ongoing stages.

As the site had difficult drainage issues, JMac was involved in the addition of a number of bioretention basins.

Undertaking works across multiple stages, JMac embraced the design focus on creating natural spaces and landscaped over 80,000m2.

With poor soil conditions in some parts of the estate, JMac completed amelioration of the site soil to provide the perfect environment for the selected plant species to thrive.

JMac has since been engaged to design and construct several future stages.  Design works were finalised in early 2013 with construction works due to follow in mid-July.

JMac was initially engaged as part of a two-tiered contractor system to enable multiple contractors to work concurrently throughout the estate. After delivering a high quality result on the first stage of their works, JMac has been engaged as the sole contractor for landscaping contracts ever since.

Throughout the many years on the estate, JMac has completed a variety of works including streetscapes, parklands, entry statements and sales offices.

JMac was engaged as principal contractor to supply an accessible playground and develop the foreshore area. Works included playground equipment, BBQ shelters, toilet facilities, furniture, stone walls, timber decks and integrated artworks.

The use of winding pathways and graded earthworks link zones were used to meet access requirements.

JMac was hired to redevelop the existing park including construction of new drainage, rain gardens, asphalt car park, concrete and granitic paths and play equipment surrounded by mulch & rubber softfall.

JMac was engaged as principal contractor for the design and construction of a long timber boardwalk and associated amenities.

Pedestrian traffic was successfully managed through directional signage and daily communication to ensure residents always had clear and safe access to the beach.

With eight hectares of this master planned estate dedicated to parks and conservation of the natural environment, JMac has completed Stage 1 streetscapes and have recently been awarded two major parklands.

JMac was engaged to construct a new park, including shelters, furniture, playground equipment and open space areas. A number of bioretention basins have also been constructed.

The basins are critical to the stormwater disbursement throughout the estate.


New South Wales

George’s Fair Moorebank, NSW Moorebank Joint Venture Read more

George’s Fair

JMac applied its expertise and proven management systems to deliver significant architectural features.

Engaged to landscape the sales office, entry statement and streetscapes for the first stage of the development, Georges Fair earmarks JMac’s entry into the greater Sydney region. The centrepiece of the estate is a large amphitheatre which includes curved concrete walls, paths and lighting.
